St Teath Community Primary School

Languages

At St Teath C.P. School, we teach French in order to provide an opening to other cultures. We aim to foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. The teaching of French provides opportunities for children to learn new ways of thinking and to communicate for practical purposes. We want children to be able to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing.

Here is the scheme of work.

EXPERIENCE!

French Cafe

What a marvellous time KS2 had at our French cafe.  They ordered and enjoyed trying various French foods and drink.  They then enquired about the cost and used Euros to pay.  Thank you so much to Madame Ward for organising the event and to the wonderful students from SJS who were our waiting staff for the morning.

EXPERIENCE!

French Day!

What fun we all had on French Day!  The whole school dressed in the colours of the French flag, and spent the day doing French-themed activities.  The children practised their spoken and written French, they learnt songs (including a 3-part round!), they played French Boules and made Eiffel Towers amongst lots of other things!  The children also looked at the work of French artists and created some wonderful pieces of their own.  We were very fortunate to have a professional French chef in for a crepe making demonstration and tasting.  At the end of the day, we all got together to showcase our work and to have a French feast!  Super!
