Welcome to this term's page.

This year we have adopted the Opening Worlds Curriculum which will take 4 years to embed!

In History we are focusing on Ancient civilisations and Anglo Saxon Britain

What were the achievements of the Ancient Egyptian civilisation? 

How did Britain change when the Romans left?

In Geography we are focusing on rivers and mountains:

How do rivers, people and land affect each other?

What are mountains and how do they affect the lives of people who live on them?

In RE we are focusing on Hinduism:

What do Hindus believe the story of Rama and Sita teaches us?

Our class story is Mystery of the Egyptian Scroll by Scott Peters.  This will be used as inspiration for much of this term's English.

Websites

Oak have been exploring what makes a good website.  They have thoroughly enjoyed learning about website construction and Mr Howard even showed them how he constructed the class webpage! (See Oak class, I told you I'd update this page with this information!!)

 

 County Champions

Well done to the Oak team that represented St Teath at the seven a side county championships for small schools.  They only went and won it!

 Embalming 'Little Bob'!

Oak thoroughly enjoyed embalming and mummifying 'Little Bob'!  They had learnt how the Ancient Egyptians mummified the remains of the dead, so that their 'ba' could return to their bodies at night, which allowed them to pass to the Afterlife.

 Harvest

The whole school enjoyed their walk to the church for our Harvest celebration.

 Canopic jars

Oak spent a morning creating their fantastic Canopic jars.  They learnt about why organs were taken from embalmed Ancient Egyptian bodies and how 'jars' can be created using a coil technique.

 Chariots

Oak have thoroughly enjoyed researching, designing, making, testing and evaluating model Ancient Egyptian chariots.  The brief was simple, design and make a model chariot, which belongs in the Ancient Egyptian era and which could carry 200g!  What could possibly go wrong?

The results varied, although the majority successfully completed their journey across the 'desert' carrying their load!
