Oak Spring 2023

This half term our class theme is:  'The Tudors: what was Tudor life like?' 

In the next half term we will be studying Canada - its landscape, habitats, industries and human impact.  We will be comparing it with our own country.

Our class text , which much of our work will be based on, is 'Treason' by Berlie Doherty.

Electrical fun!

Oak have enjoyed  testing simple circuits.  They have investigated how to make bulbs brighter and dimmer, conductors and insulators, resistors and how to represent circuits in clear diagrams.

Oak thoroughly enjoyed creating group pastiches of Holbein's Henry VIII.  The outcomes were amazing!

 

 The children also loved creating Tudor clay busts, based on Holbein's portraits.

Jack has been teaching Oak a range of martial arts including Judo and Karate.  They loved it!

Debating

Tudor Explorers: Heroes or Villains? 
This theme created quite a heated debate in Oak class, with both sides of the debating chamber speaking passionately on why these famous historical figures should be viewed as heroes or villains.  After an our of debate and questions and answers, the vote of 15 to 11 noted that Tudor Explorers were, indeed, 'villains!'

Oak love their French with Madame Ward.  This week Monsieur Howard enjoyed a delicious 'citron presse' prepared by Madame Ward.

 

 Healthy Salads

In DT, the children have taste tested, designed, made and evaluated Healthy Salads.  Thankfully, no fingers were lost or 'blood dressing' added!  They even created marketing ideas, including company names, logos and slogans!
