Welcome to this term's page.
This year we have adopted the Opening Worlds Curriculum which will take 4 years to embed!
In History we are focusing on Britain in the Blitz (Sum 1).
In Geography we are focusing on Volcanoes (Sum 1). Climate and Biomes (Sum 2).
In RE we are focusing on Judaism - Joseph, Moses and The Exodus (Sum 1). The kings, a temple and Living as a Jew (Sum 2)
In Science we are focussing on Properties and changes of materials (Sum 1)
Our class story is Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian This will be used as inspiration for much of this term's English.
In addition, we have the exciting end of year performance to look forward to, as well as our summer camp at Camp Kernow!
Literacy Company
In English, we are using The Paperbag Prince by Colin Thompson. We are writing persuasive texts- letters and leaflets.

RNLI
The whole school, once again, enjoyed a very informative and entertaining visit from 2 local lifeguards. The children shared their knowledge of beach safety and the lifeguards updated the children on what they should do if they ever get into trouble in the sea.
Properties of Materials
In Science, Oak have been studying the varying properties of materials. They have carried out several investigations, including testing electrical conductors/insulators, observing soluble solids and insoluble solids, and separating mixtures with sieving and filtering.
Reversible changes
On the hottest day of the year so far, Oak investigated the reversible changes for the states of matter of water. They melted ice, created water vapour and acted out being solid, liquid and gas molecules!
Surf's Up!
Year 6 enjoyed a FAB day at Polzeath after completing their SATs! A well earned treat! Great waves, glorious sunshine and massive smiles!

Teath Cricket League
You know it's summer when the cricket league begins! Oak are loving their lunch and playtime matches.
The clock tower unveiling
The whole school enjoyed the beautiful unveiling of the recently restored village clock tower. Our eldest and youngest children helped to reveal the new stained glass windows.

2024 Election
July 4th - Election Day! Oak developed 3 political parties to stand for election. The parties had to create manifestoes, party political broadcasts and election campaigns. Their task - to make improvements to St Teath School! Sycamore Class watched and listened to the party broadcasts and voted for their preferred party.
The 3 parties - Political, Violets and Green Democrats, voted on their leadership, and through democratic processes chose the policies that their parties stood for.
At the end of the day, an election was held to decide who would be responsible for the development of the school! Winners - The Green Democrat Party!
