Science
At St Teath C.P. School, we believe that high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science is vital to the world’s future prosperity and it is important that our pupils are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future. It is important that all our pupils are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science to enable them to answer scientific questions about the world around them. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, our pupils are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and to develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.
As Elon Musk said "It is important to view knowledge as sort of a semantic tree – make sure you understand the fundamental principles, i.e. the trunk and big branches, before you get into the leaves/details or there is nothing for them to hang on to.”
